NSW Police has launched a strike force to investigate reports of cheating on gambling and match-fixing in the National Rugby League.

“I hope they go and get 300 of the best detectives they have and, for as long as they need to, go through everything A to Z and finally clear all the innocent people that have been dragged into this mess”, Hayson told the Nine Network.
These types of suspicion are going to grow legs in the next six to 12 months, as the NSW Crime Commission applies the blowtorch to a code that is about to have its resilience again tested.
Police said they will work closely with the NSW Crime Commission, and have the full support of the NRL.
The NRL was last hit by match-fixing in 2010 when Ryan Tandy was convicted of trying to fix the early stages of a match between his Canterbury team and North Queensland.
The NRL is under scrutiny yet again, with the New South Wales police releasing a statement this afternoon that they have launched a strike force to investigate alleged cheating and match-fixing in the rugby league competition.
Allegations of rigged games surfaced in June with reports that the Manly Sea Eagles’ meetings with the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Parramatta Eels previous year were under scrutiny.
The NRL said it would support the probe and a “life ban from any involvement in rugby league” would be handed to anyone convicted of match-fixing.
