The ACLU noted that a new North Carolina law restricting release of such footage doesn’t take effect until October 1.
Hundreds of protesters rallied overnight, with some throwing rocks at police and setting fires.
The White House says Obama will continue to get updates on the situations from Attorney General Loretta Lynch and White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.
Lynch made her comments at the beginning of her address to the International Bar Association Conference in Washington.
The City of Charlotte tweeted out that the fatal shot in Uptown was civilian on civilian.
Police dashcam video shows 43-year-old Keith Scott getting out of the vehicle with a gun in his hand as he approached officers, sources confirmed to Channel 9.
Following the shooting, a woman who claimed to be Mr Scott’s daughter posted a video to Facebook saying her father was unarmed and had a disability, the Charlotte Observer reports.
“They took the book and replaced it with a gun so they can look like that man did something that he didn’t do”. Protesters set fires and stoned police cars, Putney said.
