Poll puts Trump on top in IN as he mocks rivals
Without momentum, and repudiated in a head-to-head contest in a state outside Trump’s home base in the Northeast, Cruz would have a hard time selling party insiders on the idea that he deserves the nomination.

Mr Cruz’s campaign has generally fared better in states with a high proportion of voters who identify as evangelical.
“This appears to me to be a state that Trump is going to win”, said Mr.
“Sir, with all respect, Donald Trump is deceiving you”, Cruz told the supporter.
“(Trump is) really only getting stronger.
Pence has since made efforts to more strongly align himself with Cruz. A group of Trump fans showed up at Cruz’s event in Marion, Ind. “It’s not a popular thing in Washington, D.C., to take on the leadership of your own party, and he’s been willing to do that”.
Cruz may well try to prolong the campaign for another month even if he loses in IN, in hopes of a miracle in California.
Sharon Hull of Fort Wayne said it is time for a change.
Trump on Monday also downplayed an endorsement given to him by former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, who was convicted of raping a beauty pageant contested in Indianapolis in 1992. “I mean, he’s a socialist, he doesn’t know what to do”. Trump asked rhetorically of America’s past foreign policy choices in the Middle East. “I said when we left [Iraq], we shouldn’t have been in, but when we left I could see it was a crooked government”. “I don’t know anything about his trial”.
“I love it. He sent out a tweet”.
The billionaire said of his rivals: “They’re finished”. He may win.” Todd continued, informing Cruz that, “Republican voters are the ones rejecting you. “I like that, OK?”
Among the Democrats, Clinton, with 50 per cent supporters, leads Sanders by 4 per cent. Sanders said yesterday his path to nomination is hard, but not impossible.
“I would like to get to Hillary”, Trump said.
The importance of IN for Cruz became evident even before he and fellow underdog John Kasich formed an alliance of sorts, with the OH governor agreeing to pull his advertising money from IN in exchange for Cruz doing the same IN OR and New Mexico.
Recent polls have been divided on which way Hoosiers will vote Tuesday.

The real estate mogul told a rally in IN that his campaign was soaring “like a rocket ship”, and that with a new NBC poll showing him 15 percentage points ahead of his main challenger Senator Cruz, he was all but assured of winning the state. Here’s how each candidate is performing in California, according to RealClearPolitics’ average of polls.
