Poll Shows New York Blow Out For Hillary

Head to head, Clinton leads Trump by 55 points in New York City, 17 points in the suburbs and 11 points even in more conservative upstate. For example, an ABC News/Washington Post poll released week found him 8 points behind Clinton. Clinton also leads Trump in the D.C. exurbs, the Richmond area and the Tidewater region; the Republican leads only in southwest Virginia, a region hard-hit by the decline of the coal industry. Others, like Sen. Orrin Hatch, have offered only begrudging support.

“I’m quite frankly disgusted with these “Never Trump” people who call themselves Republicans”, he declares.

Trump has talked about winning or at least being competitive in NY, which hasn’t elected a Republican presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Though Hillary Clinton is winning by a large margin among those under the age of 35, overall enthusiasm is down for this election – meaning fewer people could turn up to the polls when compared to polls conducted when Bernie Sanders was in the race.

A report on Tuesday in Washington said majority of U.S youths had rejected Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump’s strategy of wooing young supporters of Bernie Sanders, former Democratic presidential candidate. Her margin has consistently remained in the upper single digits to lower double digits over Trump.

“New York has a history of ticket splitting”, he said.

The survey indicates that the majority of NY voters side with Clinton on all six key issues of the 2016 presidential election. It is a definite long shot for Democrats in Texas, but with the state’s demographic trends moving their way, an effort in Texas could yield long-term benefits for the Democratic Party.

But no Republican has won NY since 1984, and Nassau Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs says that won’t change. Trump proposes three tax brackets and cutting the corporate tax rate in half.

Both Clinton and Trump have high unfavorability numbers in the state, but a significant gap between the two may explain Clinton’s rise in support.

Trump’s lead comes entirely from his 63-33 advantage among seniors. “I believe she’ll have great numbers coming out of NY”. The poll surveyed 717 New York State registered voters, was conducted August 7-10 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.3 percentage points.

“No Republican has carried New York State in a presidential election since Ronald Reagan in 1984”, said pollster Steve Greenberg.
