The polling begun at 8:00 am and will continue till 5:00 without any break.
Jahangir Tareen, who contested from Rahimyar Khan in 2002 and 2008 general elections, joined the PTI in 2012 and ran for NA-154 (Lodhran-I) in 2013.
But the Supreme Court of Pakistan on October 28 in response to the petition filed by Baloch ordered the ECP to conduct re-polling in NA-154 Lodhran-I, maintaining the earlier decision of the Multan Election Tribunal in this regard.
Total 303 polling stations have been set up for today’s polls; out of which six polling stations are declared most sensitive and 41 are put in sensitive category.
It should be mentioned here that authorities chose to depute Pakistan Army inside and outside polling stations to ensure free, fair and transparent by-elections. Mobile phones and cameras are also banned in the area of polling stations, he said.
The police officials were sent from police lines Multan to perform security duties at different polling stations, said a statement issued today.
Around 1,200 police officials have also left for Lodhran from Multan on Tuesday to perform security duties during the NA-154 by-polls tomorrow.
Siddique Baloch won his first election in 1997 when he became Punjab MPA.
It is one of the four National Assembly constituencies where PTI Chairman Imran Khan had called for vote audit before launching his long march and 126-day-long dharna against the PML-N government in 2014. Candidates of other four political parties and more than a dozen independent candidates are running for the by-polls.
