Polls open across Florida for primary election

While Tuesday’s primary is indeed important, it’s different than March’s presidential primary election.

Detzner reported that more than 1.7 million Floridians had cast a ballot before the polls even opened at 7 a.m.

Florida is a closed primary state, meaning only registered party members can vote in their party’s primary.

The Cochise County Elections Department has processed and counted 12,067 of the 30,172 Early Ballots that were sent to voters.

Florida is one of 17 states that require a picture ID to vote. This week’s vote merely decides the party’s nominees that will square off in the November general election.

For those voting on election day, the Yavapai County Vote Center in Sedona is located at the Elks Lodge at 110 Airport Road. Out of all the contests on the ballot, just three are definite “winner takes all” races.

In the Sheriff’s race, since Brandon Ball is running as a Democrat, only Republicans will get to choose from Paul Blackman, James Fansler and Jimmy Sottile. The three, four-year seats may or may not be filled at the primary.

Smith wrote that of the 1.1 million vote by mail ballots sent to supervisors of elections as of Saturday, 13,2000 were from voters who registered since January 1.

The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Voters are required to vote in the polling location assigned to the precinct where they live.

No. The deadline for voters to register or change their party affiliation for the primary was August 1, which is 29 days before the primary and known as the “book closing” day. You can also bring a passport or identification cards for military, government employees, students, retirement centers, neighborhood associations or public assistance. If a candidate there gets 50% of the vote they will win outright Tuesday. Second, ask the election workers to call the Miami-Dade County Elections office and issue you a provisional ballot.
