Polls open for Super Tuesday primary voting

The Clinton campaign was “reminded” of MA election laws Tuesday after the former president wandered into a Boston school and began shaking hands with voters and polling workers.

BIG PICTURE, via Julie Pace and Jill Colvin of the Associated Press in Washington: “Out front and looking ahead, Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton hope to begin charting a final path toward the general election on Super Tuesday, a delegate-rich day of primary contests likely to reveal candidates’ strengths – and weaknesses – with a broad swath of American voters”.

Galvin also foresees a solid turnout for Tuesday’s Democratic primary between former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont U.S. Sen.

Clinton has gotten the bulk of political endorsements while Sanders is banking on strong support from the state’s college-age voters.

Super Tuesday, Mar. 1, will have democratic voters will host primaries in 11 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia, according to CNN.

Republican voters were deeply unhappy with how the federal government is working and half said they wanted a political outsider as the party’s nominee for president. He didn’t say who he voted for, but did say it wasn’t Trump or Cruz. No campaign material meant to influence the vote of a voter in the ongoing election, including campaign literature, buttons, signs, and ballot stickers, may be posted, exhibited, circulated, or distributed in the polling place, in the building where it is located, on the building walls, on the premises where the building stands, or within 150 feet of an entrance door to the building.

Interest in the Republican contest, which features multiple candidates, could drive overall turnout north of 42 percent, Secretary of State William Galvin said during a briefing Monday. Bernie Sanders, and Curry says if Sanders loses here he could be in big trouble.

Only about 1 in 10 Republican primary voters said immigration was the most important issue facing the country. While he picked up a welcome endorsement from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Friday, and has picked up two other endorsements since, Trump has still only received five total.

A pool report from Mr. Clinton’s visit to Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood on Tuesday morning said that he went inside the polling place with the city’s mayor, Martin J. Walsh.

Republican Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker has cast his ballot in the state’s presidential primary, but he’s not saying who earned his vote.

Clinton’s talk focused on Republican obstruction of agendas put in place by the current Democratic president, Barack Obama, and the previous one, her husband Bill Clinton. The fact that no Republican since 1988 has won New Hampshire and SC – as Trump has done – and failed to win the nomination has more than upset pundits and party insiders alike. Galvin attributes the switch to the “Trump phenomenon,” sparked by Republican businessman Donald Trump. It was one of several stops he made in MA, where his wife was locked in a Super Tuesday primary battle with opponent Bernie Sanders. “Which is pretty impressive considering we’re a state with about 6.5 to 6.6 million people and a little over 4 million eligible voters”.

Most polling locations in MA are open from 7 a.m.to 8 p.m.
