Pope Francis has announced that the next World Meeting of Families will take place in Dublin in three years’ time.

Immigrant heritage and cultural diversity was the message during Pope Francis‘ address at Independence Mall and there was a Michigan native who got to play a role in the festivities.

Francis replied that his words of comfort for bishops were not aimed at playing down the scandal, but at acknowledging that many innocent clergy had also suffered because of it. It was, said the pope, a great tribulation.

“Conscientious objection must enter into every juridical structure because it is a right”, Francis said, as reported by Reuters. I understand her. I don’t judge someone who can’t forgive. “And a few bishops covered this up, and it is a very ugly thing”.

“Those who covered this up are guilty”, he said.

The popularity of American nuns also made an impression on him.

“I was a little bit surprised that he seemed to set up that conversation about how all stages of life are valuable then followed that immediately up with a conversation about the death penalty and never went any farther”, Lankford stated.

“As for women priests”, he added later, “that can not be done”.

Meanwhile, a prominent member of the Association of Catholic Priests said he is “not impressed” with the possibility of a visit by Pope Franciswhich he termed as “a jamboree”.

“It would demonstrate a willingness to confront the demons of the Church’s past”, she said. Marie Collins, a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, said “like so many other survivors I found the comments disappointing”. To be friends with a country like China, he said, would be “joy” and a chance to do good.
