In the canonization ceremony, the pope admitted he would have trouble calling her “Saint Teresa” since she was universally known simply as “Mother” or “Mother Teresa” and renowned for her maternal tenderness.

Writing in The Guardian, she described Mother Teresa as a “petty autocrat” and said that as a child she had hated her.
She also “made her voice heard before the powers of this world so that they might recognize their guilt for the crime of poverty they created”, Pope Francis said. “Brothers and sisters of the Missionaries of Charity are watching this in all the establishments of the MOC, but numerous sisters are visiting the headquarters for the special thanksgiving Mass after the ceremony in the evening”, said Missionaries of Charity Sister Benoy, who had come from the home in suburban Dum Dum to help the sisters with the large number of visitors. About 1,500 homeless people and 13 heads of state and even royalty witnessed the canonization.
Several of Mother Teresa’s sisters were in attendance for Sunday’s service, as well as Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis. “Let us carry her smile in our hearts”.
She was also accused of trying to convert the destitute in predominantly-Hindu India to Christianity, a charge her mission repeatedly denied. He quipped during a 2014 visit to Albania that he would never have wanted her as his superior because she was so firm with her sisters. “Mother had a healing touch and she healed me. She was a living saint and an inspiration to me”, the 32-year-old said. “For me she was a saint always, and I invoked her always in my prayers”. To those who said her Order should promote development, she replied that she was a missionary, not a social worker.
A renowned local pianist playing at Sunday morning’s mass said Mother Teresa’s canonization connects St. Anthony Perish even more to global Catholicism.
Solangel Rojas had come from Cali in Colombia.
Indian Nuns from the Catholic Order of the Missionaries of Charity watch the live telecast of the canonisation of Mother Teresa from Rome, at the Mother House in Kolkata on September 4, 2016. Later they were Francis’s guests for a giant pizza lunch served by nuns and priests. Investigating hundreds of documents regarding Mother Teresa after her death, the study raised questions about “her rather dubious way of caring for the sick, questionable political contacts, [and] her suspicious management of the enormous sums of money she received”. The process usually isn’t allowed to begin until five years after the prospective saint’s death, to allow for a more rational decision-making process free from emotions.
For her work in the shanty towns and slumps, she was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 1979.
He explained this type of Saint Dedication ceremony historically takes decades or centuries to happen, but only took Mother Teresa 19 years after she died in 1997. She died 19 years ago nearly to the day, September 5, 1997 at the age of 87.
However, Mother Teresa’s legacy has been criticized.

By historical standards, Teresa has been fast-tracked to sainthood.
