Pope Francis New York Visit Possibly Delays iPhone Launch In NYC, Philadelphia
An update to the United Parcel Service (UPS) website spotted by MacRumors notes that there will be no deliveries or pickups in certain areas of those cities during Pope Francis’ visit. UPS, the company that has long handled courier duty for iPhone launches, is already warning of delays in New York City and Philadelphia that coincide with the Papal visit.

Following Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6s launch on September 9 in San Francisco, customers are greatly excited for the new smartphone to hit the markets. Pope Francis will be making appearances in those areas at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, United Nations headquarters, 9/11 Museum, Central Park, Madison Square Garden and elsewhere next Thursday and Friday.
Apple, FedEx and UPS did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment, but UPS does have a temporary service notice posted on its website, detailing the zip codes affected.
Shipments of Apple’s new flagship smartphones, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, may be delayed for some customers in the New York and Philadelphia areas. However, if you live in New York this year that may change. For others, however, it may mean waiting until Monday to get that shiny new iPhone.
New York City: 10001, 10007, 10017, 10021, 10022, 10023, 10029.
However, there is a slight chance for the tech-giant to avoid a delay through personal pickups for pre-orders via UPS’s holding facility.

In any case, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus pre-orders won’t be on the list of “most important packages”, if there is such a list.
