Pope prays for end to terror after Nice attack

Bouhlel’s estranged wife was arrested at her apartment Friday and released Sunday morning without charge, her attorney, Jean-Yves Garino, told CNN.

He also took a selfie at the wheel of the 19-tonne truck in the days before he ploughed it into a crowd of people who had been enjoying a fireworks display on Bastille Day, France’s national day, killing 84 and injuring about 300. Nice’s famous Promenade des Anglais, the site of the slaughter, has reopened. Some spots are still identifiable by bloodstains. He also sold his auto the day before the attack. Pained and outraged epitaphs are now written in blue maker on stones placed where police shot him dead.

France is holding a three-day national period of mourning for the victims of the attack, and French president Francois Hollande has extended the state of emergency in place since the November 2015 Paris terror attacks.
