Popular ad blocking app will allow “acceptable” ads
“Consumers are speaking and you’ve got to listen to them“, he said.

After abrupt removal of Peace, the first popular ad blocker on iOS 9 on App Store, another app named Crystal has taken its place.
Whitelisting deals aside, advertising companies are looking at other ways to punch holes in the adblocker walls. The New York Times suggested that ad blockers to force publishers to create a more fluid and less invasive advertising experience for users. Users of the service may already notice a few ads displaying even with Adblock enabled.
Here’s a video interview with the CEO of Outbrain, speaking just last week at Dmexco about his company’s view on ad blockers. It’s safe enough to turn off the ad blocker for a lot of sites these days. In the U.S., it will only buy you a pack of chewing gum if you buy in bulk.
It’s hard to argue blocking advertisements is unethical unless you also think it’s unethical to nip out to the loo during the ad break in Coronation Street.
Most publishers don’t take the proper responsibility for the ads they allow on their website, and opt for automated and programmatic ad slots. Eyeo did not go into detail about which companies it is working with. It’s like a tax on the 1%, but of course, they are getting something in return.
Adblock Plus never set out to have this business model.
Many websites already have countermeasures for ad blockers.
As the browser extension’s popularity grew, the company behind it began to have misgivings about this heavy-handed approach.
Being able to avoid an ad-blocker’s filter may sound like a good thing for publishers and advertisers, but it might not be such a great idea afterall. Ad blockers streamline the user experience without contributing back to the digital economy, even as they seek to make money by charging websites for the right to soften their effect.
Slow-loading, third-party tracking, battery-draining, bandwidth-bleeding, pop-upping, visually questionable and sometimes creepily relevant (but, more often than not, utterly irrelevant) advertising.
Promoting acceptable ads on Apple Inc.
It’s unsurprising that people who don’t like ads are using ad-blockers.
Roughly 70 advertisers and publishers, including Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Taboola, now pay Eyeo hefty fees to whitelist their ads. Adblock Plus has emerged victorious each of those occasions. Google didn’t respond to requests for comment, although the list of Web addresses that get a pass includes many from Google. Yet the way ad-blocking is evolving does create a few obvious grey areas. They are happy to pay for ad-free entertainment on television as well. “Besides, we’d be pretty poor racketeers if we let 90% off for free”, Williams said. The fact that the update will be optional according to Murphy will allow people to continue using Crystal as they have been, according to the developer.
“We should really be called a web customizer”. Last week, ad blocking on iOS became a reality.
In a way, parallels could be drawn with the way taxi drivers around the world have protested against Uber, or the way the music industry fought to shut down Napster. Without the ad revenue, many news sources at the local, regional and national level would be without any revenue at all. Murphy also said that he wants to support publishers, the same reason Peace was pulled.

And with the release of iOS 9 on Sept 16, you can now do the same on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Yet, the attack on ads could end up destroying the content experience as it is now known.
