Nintendo owns 32% of the company, with the other portion owned by two companies, Game Freak and Creatures, associated with the originator of the Pokemon concept.

Pokemon Go uses smartphone satellite location, graphics and camera capabilities to overlay cartoon monsters on real world settings, challenging players to capture and train the creatures for battles. Blue squares are used to indicate PokeStops in the map where players can collect more Pokeball and items.
Whether Pokemon Go represents a cultural and technical disruption or a fad remains to be determined, but this blogger believes it is absolutely a disruption if only because of the massive demonstration of how effective and consuming AR can be.
This same revenue model was also implemented in Ninatic’s other augmented reality game, Ingress.
The game was originally expected to arrive in the United Kingdom earlier this week but server problems forced Niantic to hold back on the initial release window to avoid further connectivity issues.

A Pokemon tracker is available at the bottom right hand side of the screen. Pokemon characters are hidden throughout the map and players are notified when a Pokemon is nearby.

The game also allows players to set a lure module, meant to attract more Pokemon to a specific location for a short period of time. In response, the makers of Pokemon Go have said people should “play with friends when going to new or unfamiliar places” and “remember to be safe and alert at all times”. The church has responded with a series of social media posts calling the Pokemon a sodomite.
