Popular Michelle Obama courts young people for Clinton
“And then, of course, there were those who continued to question for the past eight years up through this very day whether my husband was even born in this country”, she shared, not mentioning Donald Trump by name. “It’s not about sending insulting tweets or making fiery speeches, it’s about whether or not the candidate can handle the awesome responsibility of leading this country”.

The first lady spoke just hours after Trump – who for five years has questioned if President Obama is a US citizen – finally admitted that Obama was born in America.
Because here is what we know: “that being president isn’t anything like reality TV”, Mrs. Obama said, referring to Trump, a former reality television host.
“Let’s be clear, elections aren’t just about who votes, but who doesn’t vote”.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign deployed a popular surrogate on Friday to gin up enthusiasm amid young voters who could be critical to victory on November 8: Michelle Obama.
And thats something that a commander in chief thinks about before they pop off about going to war, because when youve spent time on a base and you know these men and women and you know their families you dont just talk about war like there are no implications, Mrs. Obama said during an appearance with former first lady Laura Bush at the National Archives.
One recent poll has shown Clinton as having more support from people under 30 than Trump – but well below the levels Barack Obama achieved. She also addressed a complaint many young people who felt inspired by Sanders. She’s largely avoided the type of policy role that Clinton sought as a presidential spouse, choosing to focus on more broadly accepted topics like supporting military families and combating obesity in children.
Obama cast Clinton – herself a former first lady and Obama’s onetime rival – as the only candidate capable of fulfilling what she called “the highest-stakes, most 24/7 job that you could imagine”.
You worry in the White House when you know that there are troops in harms way, and you think about them every single night when you get in bed, she said.
“When you’re in public service, you’re first lady, the president and you’re interacting with the world, people can smell inauthenticity”, Mrs. Obama told Oprah Winfrey during a summit on women’s issues in June.
While President Obama highlighted accomplishments he shared with his former secretary of state, including their work towards re-opening travel to Cuba, the Iran nuclear deal and global climate agreements, Michelle Obama emphasized Clinton as a highly qualified female. She said “it’s an injury, it’s not a disorder”. She has been really inspirational for me…she sort of inspired me to go into engineering and stuff like that. “I think it will be interesting because I look up to Michelle so much that to see what she says about her will make a big difference”.

“It is so hard to believe that it is less than two months until election and that my family is nearly at the end of term”, she said.
