#PorteOuverte – Parisians use Twitter to offer shelter to strangers

Twitter users throughout the city began to offer a safe space to those needing to escape using the hashtag #PorteOuverte, which means open door.

Local are using the phrase, which translates to #OpenDoor, to offer shelter and safety to those stranded in the city following the attacks.

In the wake of a series of attacks on Paris, its citizens have taken to Twitter to help those stuck in the city as the result of pandemonium.

French president Francois Hollande has called the attacks the deadliest in France since World War II.

Many users openly posted addresses on social media, while others offered to give their information to anyone who messaged them directly. Police also said a third shooting took place at the Bataclan concert venue in the 11th Arrondissement where there were reports of 100 hostages. “Don’t stay outside!” one account tweeted.
