Portman leads Ohio; Senate races close in Fla., Pa.

Republicans, who have repeatedly knocked Democratic congressman Patrick Murphy for allegedly exaggerating or being untruthful about his accomplishments, seized Thursday on what they called a new gaffe by the U.S. Senate candidate.

The “Trump Effect” is hurting Rubio’s success in the state, a poll director said. Along the way, he has aimed to establish himself as a political outsider and an enthusiastic supporter of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“As I’ve said before I do disagree with Donald on a number of issues, I disagree with Hillary on every issue”, said Rubio. Whether he was using clunky language to try and create a rallying image against Trump, or if he was trying to provide a bit of a diversity flavor to his white bread campaign against Cuban Rubio is unclear. He said it’s a matter of finding the most common ground.
