There were no reports of shots fired on the VCU campus, only the official alerts that police were searching part of campus after “multiple reports of a possible armed subject”.
Cops in Richmond, Virginia, are on campus at Virginia Commonwealth University while they investigate reports about an armed man on campus.
Two independent sightings described the subject as a male wearing a green shirt, jacket and a square military-style cap, with a black backpack.
Investigators are still monitoring the situation and say that people in the area can resume normal activity, but are asked to report any unusual activity to police.
The issue comes a day after a gunman in Oregon opened fire at students in Umpqua Community College, killing nine.
At about 11 a.m. Friday, the school posted an alert telling students that it had not been able to find an armed man after a search.
