“…woke my bride up this morning with a baby in my arms and the news that our version of “If I Needed You” was nominated for a Grammy”, he wrote.

The remarkably upbeat singer recently celebrated an early Christmas with her extended family. “Honestly, I think Joey just got exhausted of listening to life going on in the rooms outside of her bedroom and exhausted of wondering what it would be like to be part of it”, he wrote Sunday. On Rory’s blog, “This Life I Live”, he talks about the help the community has given them and how the family has grown together.

On Dec. 11, the Feeks shared a heartwarming photo of Joey sitting and playing with their daughter IN on the floor.

“When the door to her bedroom opened up and she came out in the living room, we nearly couldn’t believe our eyes”, Rory continued.

Rory’s blog has detailed his wife’s struggle with stage IV cervical cancer since she was diagnosed in 2014. Although she seemed to be doing better, Joey received the news in mid-October that her cancer had not only returned but had spread to her colon, leaving the doctors with nothing left to do.

In a photo that accompanied his post, which is still providing hope and inspiration to so many people, Joey is showing a flash card with a picture of a tiger to IN so she can learn her animal names. “…You don’t know if you’re gonna be here next Christmas, or next month or even next week… you suddenly become hyper-aware that today… that this moment – is all you have”, she told Rory, according to his blog.

In his post, Rory also shared a video of the touching moment. “She might look different to you. But not to me”, he wrote.
