Postal Service to debut new Elvis Presley specialty stamp, CD

PRISCILLA Presley, former wife of the King of Rock “n” Roll, joined Postmaster-General Megan Brennan at a dedication ceremony of the stamp on Wednesday outside Graceland, Presley’s long-time home in Memphis. The Elvis Forever stamp is the second stamp the Postal Service has issued in honor of Presley: A 29-cent stamp featuring the music legend’s image debuted in 1993 and has become the best-selling commemorative stamp ever in the U.S. “Spanning from his humble beginnings in a Tupelo, Mississippi, two-room house to becoming one of the most legendary performance artists of the 20th Century, Elvis Presley’s works continue to resonate with millions the world over”.

It also features a tiny crown for “The King”. Other icons honored in the past few years include Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles and Jimmy Hendrix.

“The stamp is so well thought out”, said Priscilla Presley.

The Presley stamp is the first Music Icon stamp in 2015.
