Voters who have not received a ballot can register to vote through Election Day at the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 98 Everett St., Suite C, or the Bayfield motor vehicle office at 1199 Bayfield Parkway.
Make sure to send in your ballot soon, the United State Postal Service reminds voters. The Department of State wants to ensure that every voter’s voice heard in this election. “It would be awful if someone’s vote couldn’t be counted because of delays using the postal services”. “We were notified by the Secretary of State’s office (Monday night) that there has been a few difficulties with the U.S. Postal Service”.
It is possible the county will see a similar turnout to 2013 because many people tend to wait until the Election Day to turn in their ballot, she said. “We must have the voted ballot in our office by 7 p.m. on Election Day”, she said.
On Election Day November 3, polls will be open for municipal elections from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.in all but four Connecticut cities and towns (Andover, Bethany, Union and Woodbridge all held municipal elections in May).
To avoid that fate, voters should get their ballots in the mail by the end of this week. So far, 2,529, or 19.24 percent, have been returned, either dropped off or through the mail.
All Vote by Mail applications sent through the mail were to arrive at the County Clerk’s Office by October 27. “So if you drop your ballot off at the post office in Glenwood Springs, it will go by truck to be processed”, before returning to Glenwood.
“It’s been really quiet”, she said. “Tuesday will be pretty exciting next week”.

“Say I was unable to bring a ballot in at this time, is it acceptable for someone else to pick it up”. As of Tuesday, Rupert said that all delayed ballots had been delivered.
