Otto Porter added 19 points to help Washington win its second straight over San Antonio dating to last season.

As the Spurs and Wizards faced off on Wednesday night, Washington was trying to get a play going at the top of the key with a handoff to Bradley Beal.

Bradley Beal is only 22 years old. That’s really à propos of nothing, but it felt right to mention it.

The combination of Wall and Beal accounted for 22 of the teams 36 points in the fourth quarter, including the final 17 points of the quarter.

Men’s soccer: Freshman Eryk Williamson scored twice as host Maryland (8-5-4, 3-2-3 Big Ten) earned a 3-1 win over No. 16 Rutgers (11-5-1, 4-4) to end the regular season.

Forward Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points and Parker had 17 for San Antonio. Washington got out to a 19-2 lead after just five minutes of play, but they surrendered that lead by the end of the first quarter.

The Wizards held the Spurs without a field goal until Leonard’s reverse layup with 6:51 left in the quarter. Wall’s 13 assists were his most since registering 14 at Memphis on April 4 last season.

Leonard scored 18 points in the first half and Porter topped Washington with 15 of his 19 points.

The 22-year-old Beal has scored at least 24 points in every game this season including Saturday’s 117-110 loss to the New York Knicks. “How do we prepare?”

Spurs: “What would you like to hear?” We did drills before we came (to the arena)? Or we sought counsel from a yogi?

The good news for San Antonio is that they played well enough to win and very well might have had they not opened and closed the game with disappointing bookends.
