Potential Female-Led Fantasy Island TV Series In the Works

Sony TV is rebooting the 1970s drama Fantasy Isalnd for ABC, Deadline reports. ABC tried reviving the series in 1998 starring Malcolm McDowell as a black-suited and often sharp-tongued version of Ricardo Montalban’s Mr. Roarke. In the revival, “Fantasy Island” is now the name of a company, rather than an island, which “designs and executes fantasies for clients”.

Together Tattoo and Roarke brought vacationers’ fantasies to life, playing host each week to a changing cast of Hollywood heavyweights, as everyone from Don Ameche to Don Knotts eventually set foot on Fantasy island.

If it goes, the series will follow a brilliant, dynamic and sexy woman who runs a San Francisco-based company that provides clients with their most intimate, dark or outlandish fantasy.

Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air, X-Men: First Class) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Jennifer Klein via their Sony Pictures Television-based Vendetta Productions banner. Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva) will serve as a supervising EP. Up to date: 17:18 EST, 12 October. 2015 Seventies TV collection Fantasy Island is about to return to TV screens. The show, which was created by Gene Levitt, ran for seven seasons alongside The Love Boat.
