A news release from Tennessee lottery officials says the state also has a ticket that won $2 million.

Three jackpot winning tickets, that matched all six numbers, were sold in California, Tennessee and Florida.

In fiscal year 2015, for example, Powerball and other lottery games generated $74.5 million for Iowa’s general fund. In California, the nation’s most populous state, the games raised about $1.3 billion for education in the 2014 fiscal year. The three lucky ones overcame the odd of 1 in 292.2 million. California Lottery officials say tickets with 5 of the 6 numbers were sold in Santa Monica, Gardena, Redlands, Pacoima, Tustin, Chula Vista, Nipton, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, Vacaville, Cloverdale and Irwindale.

The Tennessee Lottery said a victor will be announced when they claim the prize, but in town of 6,000 they are hoping they will know much sooner.

Office workers dashed out between meetings to buy tickets, fantasizing about what they would do with the winnings.

The announcement of the winners came after the previous 19 drawings produced no jackpot winners.

“I’ve never won anything in my life”, she said. According to the director, they are unsure if the winning ticket was one of the tickets purchased by Rechnitz or if she bought it herself. “I think it put us on the map – all over the world”, he said, adding that his brother called from Australia overnight to learn if he won. Those tickets were sold in Tennessee, Florida, and a Los Angeles suburb.

Windey matched the five white balls, but her winning ticket incorrectly had 26 as the Powerball.

Shoopman takes $710,000 after taxes, and told Powerball officials she plans to become a homeowner. The other winning tickets were sold at a 7-Eleven in Chino Hills, California, and a Publix supermarket in Melbourne Beach, Florida.

There was no Powerball jackpot win in South Carolina Wednesday night, but players still need to check their tickets.

The estimated jackpot amounts had risen steadily since November 4, when it was reset at $40 million. In North Dakota, lottery winners can choose to remain anonymous.
