Powerball Jackpot up to $500 Million
“It’s important for Nebraska Lottery players to remember that no matter how large the jackpot is, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million”, said Acting Nebraska Lottery Director Jill Marshall.

Powerball hopes that having less frequent jackpot winners means there will be more rollover pots and thus larger top prizes. Ticket holders can check online here for the winning numbers, which were drawn late Wednesday night.
UPDATE: There were no winners in Wednesday night’s drawing – the jackpot is now a record-breaking $675 million.
The largest Powerball jackpot of all time was in May 2013, when a single player in Florida won the jackpot of $590.5 million. Lottery officials recommend that if people pool their money, they put down rules in writing for splitting the prize, as it’s easy for misunderstandings to crop up when hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake. They have 38 employees that are pooling their money together, for a chance to win the lottery.
After Saturday’s jackpot came and went without a big victor, millions of new tickets sold sent the total soaring to an estimated half a billion dollars.
More than $581 million has been raised for the Nebraska Lottery’s beneficiary funds since the lottery began in 1993.
“I’ve already bought a couple; I’ll probably buy another one or two before the day’s over, since today’s the day they’re going to make the drawing”, said Gary Zander of Groveland.
You can see the Powerball drawing tonight at 11 p.m. on WNEP-TV. “Quit working is the main thing”, said another Missourian.
The couple, affected by the October floods in SC, will use the $1 million in winnings to fix damage sustained to their home.
Some, like Perri Tabak, say they don’t even know what they’d do with the money – they just want to play.

Powerball is offered in 44 states as well as Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
