Tennessee lottery officials announced Friday that the Robinsons won the golden ticket sold in their hometown this week.

In Florida, the money goes for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, them it is distributed for the stated legislature to wherever is needed, said Connie Barnes, Florida’s Lottery spokesperson.

Tennessee Lottery has not verified the ticket, which John Robinson had been keeping in the front pocket of his shirt.

The victor… John and Lisa Robinson’s winning Powerball numbers. He said didn’t want to, but he did anyway.

Mr Robinson said that although he was unwell, he bought the ticket at a local grocery store at the request of his wife on Wednesday night, just hours before the draw.

“Check these numbers!” she recalled telling him after she woke him up.

Lisa and John Robinson of Munford, Tennessee told the Today show they had won and said they appeared on the television show on the advice of their lawyer.

He’s now an admitted believer. She indicated she would return to work Monday.

“All these years, I’ve wondered what it would be like to call my mom and tell her I won the lottery”, he said. “How long you going to last?”

They said the first thing they will do is pay off their daughter’s student loans. The would also like to splurge on family members too.

“They’re small town people who appreciate community, appreciate family values”. State lottery officials could not immediately be reached Friday morning.

John and Lisa Robinson are one of the three winners of Wednesday’s $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot. Winning tickets were also sold in California and Florida.

The six winning numbers for the $1.586 billion prize were 08, 27, 34, 04, 19 and Powerball 10.

One reason to be suspicious of the family’s claim: The Robinsons said that they were headed directly to the lottery commission after appearing on the Today Show.

The lottery money from the taxes goes mostly to education.
