This particular jackpot has been growing and rolling over since May 11; it started at $40 million.
The player who purchased their ticket in Florida also played the Power Play option, which increased their winnings to $2 million. The last drawing was on Wednesday and no jackpot winners were announced. Before the rules changed in 2015, the odds were 175 million to 1.
With no winners in the $422 million Powerball drawing on July 27, the jackpot moves up to a whopping $478 million. So when is the next Powerball drawing?
If anyone matches the five balls and red Powerball in Wednesday’s drawing, it will be the game’s first jackpot victor since May 7 when eight New Jersey family members claimed a jackpot worth $429.6 million. On July 20, a $25 million ticker was sold in Washington State, while on Friday lucky players in Georgia and Virginia split a $15 million prize.
Tickets for the Powerball lottery cost $2 each and are available until 59 minutes minutes before the drawing takes place.
Powerball is held in 44 states in America, including the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

A winning ticket will be worth an estimated payout of $478 million if spread over 30 years, or the victor may opt for a lump-sum payment of $330.6 million before federal taxes.
