These two shows join NBC’s orders for Emerald City, a twisted-tales take on Oz, Taken, a prequel series to the movies of the same name, and fellow sitcom The Good Place, with Ted Danson and Kristen Bell. The network is expected to make a couple of more pickups before the upfront presentation in NY next week. Based on characters from DC Comics. It’s a half-hour comedy, in contrast to the hour-long dramas seen in most of the superhero genre, and the superheroes and -villains who show up in the series will play a fairly minimal role in the big-picture storylines. Well, that’s Emily’s job.
After yesterday’s announcement from Fox, NBC has revealed plans for its 2016-2017 schedule by declaring that new comedy series Trial and Error and DC Comics’ Powerless have received season orders.
“Trial & Error” stars Nicholas D’Agosto as NY lawyer Josh Segal, who heads to a tiny Southern town for his first big case.
The comedy is written and executive produced by Ben Queen serves as writer and executive producer. And it just so happens that his first big case is not going to be easy. His mission? To defend an eccentric, “rollercizing” poetry professor (John Lithgow) accused of the freakish murder of his beloved wife. To add to the small-town charm, the young lawyer’s office is situated behind a taxidermy shop, and he gathers a team of local misfits to help him out.
