While we were surprised when Cartoon Network announced they were making a reboot of their highest rated show ever, we were overjoyed at the thought of having The Powerpuff Girls around for another generation. Also, the word “princess” reminds me of the way men might cat-call a woman as she walks down the street, shouting at her to smile or to look happy.

The Powerpuff Girls reboot will come with the revival of other ’90s and ’00s favorites including Fuller House and Gilmore Girls.

Powerpuff Girls originally aired on Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2004, spanning the course of 78 action-packed episodes.

You may not recognize the new cast’s voices, but you’ll see that the girls are still sugar, spice, and everything nice…until you call them “princess!”

The Powerpuff Girls returns to Cartoon Network sometime in April. The series will be co-executive produced by Bob Boyle, who created Wow! Wow! The Powerpuff Girls centers on Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, three girls with superpowers, as well as their father, the brainy scientist Professor Utonium, who all live in the fictional city of Townsville, USA. Series creator Craig McCracken is no longer involved, and the animation style seems a little cleaned up as well to match Cartoon Network’s current look.
