Sources said that the linking of Dr Asim with terrorism was bitterly criticised and PPP leadership rejected the allegation terming it frivolous and part of a vilification campaign against the party.

The meeting made a decision to organise big rallies in the Sindh and Punjab districts where elections will be held in the first phase of the LG polls on October 31.

Moreover, the party would continue with its due role for strengthening of democracy and parliament while all conspiracies in this regard would be effectively countered.

The Pakistan Peoples Party has condemned the “interference” of some federal institutions in Sindh and decided to resist such moves by raising the issue in a “constitutional manner” in parliament, as well as in public meetings to be held for the upcoming local government elections in Sindh and Punjab.

According to details, party’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has been tasked with heading local body elections campaign.

Sources privy to the meeting said the PPP leadership resolved to conduct a full-fledged public contact campaign in Sindh and Punjab. In this connection, the suggestion would be considered of leaders.

The meeting offered fateha for Shuhada of attack on Badabair base Peshawar on Friday, Sheikh Rashid bin Muhammed bin Rashid Al Maktoun who expired in Dubai today and for Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and martyrs in war against militancy. PPP leaders, including former prime ministers Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf, would attend it.
