Prank or useful? Asking Siri to charge your phone calls Police

No further questions are asked, and users have five seconds to end the call.

112 is the European standard number for emergency services, and calling it in the United Kingdom renders the same result as dialling 999. Either way, it’s something to aware of, and avoid if possible.

The following is a very mad iPhone bug that you should be aware of, as it might come in handy in some situations – though hopefully you’re never going to have to use it. Apparently, asking Siri to charge your phone to 100% will trigger an emergency call to the police.

It seems to happen because the phone is hearing the words as an instruction to “phone 100”, and it interprets 100 as the emergency services. One theory is that this is a way for an iPhone user to covertly call the police, but Apple hasn’t publicized this information, and it’s hard to imagine the scenario where this is a useful feature. It’s probably just a bug as it works in iOS 8, but not in the public beta of iOS 9, as we found in our testing.

After much fanfare and publicity on the company’s part, Apple’s conception of a personal assistant is now ingrained in popular culture; you won’t be able to find a comedy show without at least one joke about Siri and for good reason.
