She asked for understanding, but all she got was crickets – and handcuffs.

The woman accused of releasing a bucket full of crickets and worms onto a crowded D train last week was arrested on Tuesday, police said, just hours after she posted a Facebook Live video apologizing and saying that people want to kill her.

Pugh, who calls herself an actress, has said she pulled the performance as a “social experiment” to highlight the plight of the city’s homeless people.

“I just wanted to do a video of what the homeless people go through and how we look at them”, Pugh told CBS2’s Ali Bauman in an exclusive television interview. I don’t want that.

Zaida Pugh, 21, posed as a deranged woman last week on a Brooklyn-bound D train.

“I just really had a dream and I wanted it to go far”. I wanted to spread messages out there.

The freakish incident last Wednesday sent the crowded auto into a frenzy.

Someone pulled the emergency brake, halting the train for 30 minutes, which caused the air conditioner to shut off inflicting more chaos.

Once the train came into the station she was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and released. A edited video posted on her Facebook page also shows her urinating on the floor as passengers ran to the other side of the auto.

But Pugh then revealed the incident was a prank – and that she’d considered using cockroaches instead of crickets.

She also faces charges of obstructing governmental administration, false reporting an incident and disorderly conduct. NYPD Chief Robert Boyce said she put people at risk. [They] could have had heart attacks, people could have had all kinds of issues.

“If she speaks to us that’s great”, he said.

Life on the lam did not agree with Pugh.

“People don’t hate you Zaida, you have a lot of people who follow you, stay strong and stuff the haters”, another wrote.

“I feel sorry with some things, like how it went”, Pugh said. That’s not the type of attention I wanted…

“We all make mistakes and I pray that you get another chance to do what you love.it got waaaaay out of hand tho”.

Dressed in a turquoise dress and blue clogs, wearing a black scarf on her heard, Pugh acted as though she was trying to sell the bugs.
