As far as the BlackBerry Priv price goes, the handset will reportedly set the buyers back by $699, 559 pounds, $899 and 799 euros in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Germany, respectively.

However, Android Headlines notes that the BlackBerry Priv was set up to fail because of its price.

While the fact that Carphone Warehouse will be selling Blackberry’s first Android-powered Priv smartphone is no secret, CEO John Chen has finally confirmed the news via his post in Blackberry blog today. The pricing is certainly a bit on the higher side but given that it’s a flagship device one can understand why BlackBerry is charging what it’s charging.

“Priv will be the solution for smartphone users who are learning daily of the lack of privacy they have on their current devices”. Based on rumors, the BlackBerry Priv will apparently have a 5.43-inch QHD AMOLED display with 540 ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 integrated.

BlackBerry committed to making an Android phone that has tip-top security, and has apparently done so.

On the back, it has an 18 MP Schneider-Kreuznach camera, with optical image stabilization and able to shoot 4K videos, while on the front it relies on a 2 MP snapper. What is confirmed though is that aside from an Android platform, the BlackBerry Priv will come out with a DTEK-focused app for owners. The Priv also reportedly has an expanded storage, and it is speculated that users can add up to 2 TB of storage via microSD.
