Predators edge Ducks 2-1 in Game 7, advance to 2nd round
The Anaheim Ducks entered the season and the playoffs as a legit Stanley Cup contender, but it could all come crashing down with a Game 7 loss to the Nashville Predators on Wednesday night. “To be going to Anaheim, they have their home crowd, but I feel like we’ve been playing really well in their building. With the way “Fish” was going, pushing him back, I was fortunate enough for it to come up on my stick”.

The driving force of the Predators is Pekka Rinne. “We can learn from this series. We’ve done some good things, but now it’s time to put it across that line here”.
If you have access to a cable or satellite log-in and you’re looking to stream the game on a tablet or connected TV, you can do so via the NBC Sports Live Extra App, which you can download in the App Store or the Google Play Store.
It is the first time the Blues advanced past the first round since 2012, when they beat San Jose in five games.
“With the way the score was and the way we were pushing, I’d say yes, especially with how hard we had to push from November just to get to where we were”, Boudreau said.
Both teams like to limit speed through the neutral zone and want to take away space from their opponents.
The Predators had won at least one home game in nine of their 10 previous playoff series.
“It’s nice to get to the second round”, Wilson said.
Andersen temporarily turned the series in the Ducks’ favor after replacing John Gibson following a 3-2 home loss in Game 2.
Nashville Predators center Filip Forsberg, of Sweden, right, joins the celebration after defenseman Shea Weber (6) scored an empty-net goal against the Anaheim Ducks in the final seconds of the third period to give the Predato… They had numerous late chances to tie it while largely dominating the final two periods, but a redirected shot clanked off the post in the final minutes, and nothing went in during a frantic final minute.
While the storyline will be that the Ducks were beaten by another Game 7 – their fourth in a row – but the Predators see it a little differently.
“We are going to have to rely on guys who have been there before and we are going to throw our everything at them, play our best game and find a way to move on to that second round”, Perron said. Games 1 and 2 of that series will be Friday and Sunday. “I can’t explain it. Can’t get a bounce, it seems like, to start out these games, and they end up killing us”.
“I don’t think there’s anything better in the Stanley Cup (playoffs) than a Game 7 when everything means something”, Predators coach Peter Laviolette said.
The Predators jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a scoreless first period. Well, more accurately, the second round will be leapfrogging its way in front of the first.
“What he brings is a physicality and experience”, Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said.
“He was great. He settles it down, gives us the confidence”, forward Mike Fisher said. David Poile has been the team’s general manager since the organization started play and tried his best to keep the Predators competitive in the face of ownership issues and other off-ice problems. He finished with a minus-7 rating for the Ducks, who didn’t score an even-strength goal in the final two games.
The Ducks have been tentative in Game 7 losses to Detroit in 2013, to the Kings in 2014 and to Chicago last season.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – The Nashville Predators’ celebration of a landmark moment in franchise history consisted of a few minutes of excitement in the Honda Center dressing room with a 14-year-old Nelly song blaring in the background. The Predators scratched F Cody Bass for the first time in the series, using Colton Sissons and Craig Smith instead.Gaustad’s second career playoff goal and first in the series extended the lead to 2-0 at 15:53. The Ducks captain has played well with two goals and three assists in this series, but Getzlaf has been absent in too many important games in recent seasons.
