“Our detectives believe this was a robbery likely to have gone foul”, said Indianapolis Metro Police Sgt. Kendale Adams.
Officials did not name any potential suspects in the death of Amanda Blackburn but were several possible leads.
This happened while her husband Rev. Davey Blackburn was at the gym. According to the South Bend Tribune, Amanda was the daughter of Phil Byars, who is the pastor of First Baptist Church in Elkhart.
That’s why Coach Irons says it was no surprise, Davey Blackburn entered the ministry and is the lead pastor at his church in Indianapolis.
“There is no way to prepare yourself for circumstances like these”, he said in the statement. Their toddler son was home at the time of the home invasion, but he was not injured. Amanda was found inside the by her husband after her returned from working out at a local gym around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
A young family brought together they say by God and torn apart by a senseless murder.
Resonate Church has set up a fund to help Davey.
“Let’s continue to support and pray for Davey Blackburn, little Weston, and their entire family as they journey this hard road”.
Police are now combing through security camera footage from neighbouring homes and are looking at a few suspicious activity found on one so far.
City police Capt. Craig Converse said during a news conference that detectives haven’t identified the hoodie-wearing suspect in 28-year-old Amanda Blackburn’s death.
“She was all about people coming to know Jesus, that’s who she was as a person”.
Her husband, Davey Blackburn, has said that “as deeply as I am hurting, I am hopeful and confident that good things will come of this”.
The pastor added: “I hold firm to the belief that God is still good, that he takes our tragedy and turns it into triumph”. The couple moved to Indianapolis three years ago after feeling called to plant a new church there, according to their church’s website.

The couple regularly posted about their relationship on social media and shared videos where they answered questions from the congregation of the church that Blackburn founded, Resonate Church, shortly after moving to Indianapolis from SC in January 2012. “We’re going to be in your face”.
