PREMIER LEAGUE LIVE: Arsenal v Liverpool

Liverpool have won only once in their last 18 games at the Emirates.

“It is an impossible job, ” said the Arsenal manager.

Here are the three key questions Liverpool face in this game.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is set to leave the club and join Turkish outfit Beiktas on a season-long loan deal.

“There’s a real focus in our group this season, a real toughness, mentally”.

Rodgers admits the result is unlikely to have too much impact on the final standings at this stage, yet appreciates an away win over Arsene Wenger’s men can greatly enhance the confidence among his group.

Perhaps this isn’t helped by the fact that Liverpool could have to make do without their influential captain Jordan Henderson, who has a foot injury and has been playing with pain killing injections recently.

It may have taken a late wonder-strike and some generous officiating, but Liverpool have six points to show for their first two matches, and even if things haven’t clicked in attack and midfield has at times looked the same non-functional mess it did previous year, in the end that’s what matters. There is no doubt that Ibe is wonderfully talented and is going to play a big part for the Reds this season.

Liverpool lost 4-1 on their last trip to the Emirates Stadium in April as their challenge for a Champions League place faded.

The midfielder was carrying the injury into the game and was under the influence of pain killers.

That experience, a mentality that has allowed Liverpool to grind out a pair of victories they perhaps didn’t fully deserve, was absent last season.

Though many of Liverpool’s summer signings have only been in the squad for a few months, Rodgers added that he is pleased to see the camaraderie they have already chalked up with their new team-mates. When the ball comes in, he’s a striker in the area.

When a team with the stature of Arsenal starts their Premier League campaign with a loss at home against West Ham, most will consider that to be a disappointing moment for the club.

Wenger continued: “This is a very important game where the result will of course be vital”.

“There are certain games you look at the approach to get you the result and that is something we have been working on this week”.

It definitely seems as though the manager has done his homework. Despite their success at Anfield, Liverpool have failed to win at the Emirates in the last four attempts, losing three out the four.
