Premier League to play La Marseillaise before all weekend matches

Security guidance is provided to the league – via the police – from the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre and the National Counter Terrorism Security Office.

Premier League officials have been in consultation with police and security advisers, as well as the British government, and a full briefing was provided to the 20 clubs on Wednesday.

Albion fans are being urged to arrive at The Hawthorns earlier than usual on Saturday because of added security measures.

Premier League’s chief executive, Richard Scudamore, has said that gay football players who decide to publicly come out would be treated with respect.

The programme also includes a tribute from Blues and France global Kurt Zouma.

“All the advice we have received is that it is “business as usual”.

The Marseillaise will air for the first time at Watford’s Vicarage Road, where fourth-place Manchester United go in search of a victory that would provisionally elevate them to the top of the standings.

Remi Garde would welcome hearing La Marseillaise played before Premier League matches this weekend but does not feel there is an obligation.
