Nation to Nation is traveling to British Columbia next week to dig more into the issues surrounding the Trans Mountain pipeline on both sides of the argument.

Almost 60 per cent of poll takers said if that happens, the B.C. government should give in and allow the expansion to be built.
“We need this project for a strong economy”, wrote Clovechok in his report. “His government’s actions stand to harm the entire Canadian economy”.
In an effort to meet the deadline, Trudeau announced on Sunday that federal and Alberta governments have entered into talks with Kinder Morgan to come to a financial arrangement that would “remove the uncertainty overhanging” the project.
Government officials say it’s not even yet clear which department will take the lead on the bill – Natural Resources, Finance or Justice. The B.C. Prosecution Service determined Monday that “criminal contempt proceedings are warranted for those who have been brought before Court after being arrested in breach of the injunction”. When the expansion was proposed, the USA was an net importer, but now with the increase in US production it’s now a net exporter. So the pending Trans Mountain pipeline plan to triple oilsands exports, and increase oil tanker traffic under the Lions Gate Bridge up to seven-fold, is doomed.
“But, we are a society that can not exist without oil and gas and plastics at this point in time, for medical equipment and everything else that it is used for”.
Don’t look now, but our pipeline crisis has turned into a national unity crisis. While the ship burned for a week, spilling 960,000 barrels, the Chinese government tried to claim there was no large oil spill for at least three days.
In characterizing an opponent as not only wrong, but morally corrupt, we remove any opportunity for reconciliation or cooperation and create an uncrossable gap of ideological differences.
The National Energy Board (NEB) published its decision this week, stating that the applied-for route through the United Boulevard business district is the “best possible” and balances safety, engineering and environmental factors, and will have the least impact on businesses.
Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers president and CEO Tim McMillan, who also attended the Senate meeting, echoed Bloomer’s concerns over Alberta’s Bill 12.
The unbelievable conclusion to all of this will see the pipeline built, and at the completion of the pipeline construction, the premier of Alberta will be Jason Kenney, and the premier of B.C. will be Andrew Wilkinson.
Is Prime Minister Justin Trudeau really prepared to stare down the kind of opposition he’s likely to see should he attempt to force the pipeline through?
Tensions around the construction of the controversial $7.4 billion pipeline expansion have reached a white-hot pitch at the political level, and that often means bad news for investor confidence.
She said that Kinder Morgan has been warning “for months” that the project was “at risk”.
“I appreciate that they also see the importance of the energy industry to Alberta and indeed to the country”, she said.
“The events of the last ten days have confirmed those views”. His government is trying to determine if it can legally restrict bitumen shipments into the province.
Coast Salish water protectors and others demonstrate against the expansion of Texas-based Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline project in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada on March 10, 2018.
A poll conducted in February found just 48 per cent in favour. Another 600 permits have yet to be requested by Trans Mountain.

Around 119,000 km of pipelines are used to transport oil and natural gas across Canada.
