Premier Threatens to Cut Pay
Or a nicer bunch of union bosses.

There was likely blood on the floor of the premier’s office once it was all over.
Wynne says her Liberal government will proceed with mandatory payroll deductions starting January 1, 2017 for the new Ontario Retirement Pension Plan, which essentially mirrors the CPP for anyone who doesn’t already have a workplace pension. Quit using kids as pawns. “Report card comments are just cut-and-paste, anyway”.
If the union continues down that path, teachers will have their pay docked.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) will escalate its strike action by withdrawing all extracurricular activities.
Meanwhile, job action by support staff has forced the cancellation of community use of schools on weekends, as custodians are not overseeing access to school property.
The CUPE job action has been in place for six weeks and OSSTF for nearly three weeks.
“This can not go on”, Wynne told reporters after she and Sandals gave the unions their marching orders. “I don’t know the details of that”, she said. “Why are they not back at the bargaining table with us?”
Kudos to columnist Anne Jarvis for laying bare the stench hanging over Ontario’s public education system, created by the Wynne government wanting to curry favour with Ontario teachers’ unions to win their political support while leaving our students’ best interests by the wayside.
“In fact, the process has gone on as long as it has because we have no desire to do so”.
“Children’s lives are being negatively affected”.
It’s not the first time the government has given the unions a few compensation.
“Should a tentative agreement be reached with the ETFO, we will revisit the situation”, TDSB chair Robin Pilkey and director of education Donna Quan said in a letter to parents issued on Friday.
You pay for attack ads and I’ll give you $1 million to “negotiate”.
The government won’t give that permission until November. 1, which would then trigger five days’ notice of the impending action, Wynne said.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is stepping up the pressure on the province to return to contract talks but so far haven’t acted on a threat to begin rotating one-day strikes this month.
“Continued withdrawal of services by ETFO and CUPE is having an impact on the normal operations of our schools”.
“We said we were ready to start this afternoon and she agreed to that”.
“I wouldn’t say the school boards are asking for a showdown”.
“I hope we can reach a deal”. “No one believes that”.
