The Carver County Sheriff’s office has reached out to the DEA for assistance in determining where the pills came from and what prescriptions Prince had obtained.

Prince’s official cause of death still has not been confirmed by the medical examiner – although all signs are reporting to his passing being drug-related.
TMZ recently reported that the iconic musician had suffered a drug overdose just days before his death and was rushed to an IL hospital after an emergency runway touchdown as he was flying home to suburban Minneapolis from a concert in Atlanta.
Law enforcement sources told ABC News prescription drugs were found in Prince’s possession and at his home.
On Tuesday, Prince’s longtime lawyer and friend roundly dismissed reports the singer died of an overdose or had a drug addiction.
Authorities have said that at least four weeks would be needed for results of Prince’s autopsy, which was conducted before his cremation.
A report by entertainment news site TMZ alleges Prince was a frequent user of cocaine and other drugs.
TMZ broke the story, Prince nearly died from a Percocet OD 6 days before he was found dead in an elevator.
Sheriff Jim Olson meanwhile has requested that the public respect Prince and “his dignity” while investigations are underway. TMZ also spoke with several people close to Prince over the last few years who said he was a “health nut” and saw no evidence into drug use.
Doctors reportedly gave him a “save shot”, which is commonly given to counteract the effects of an opiate.

Prince’s own lawyer, L. Londell McMillan, said medication may have been used to treat pain but none “that would be any cause for concern”, AP reported. Separate reports indicate that Prince’s body has already been cremated, potentially complicating a more thorough investigation.
