“Our focus, therefore, should be on quality technological education for development”.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, held a meeting with Gordon Brown, former British prime minister, on Saturday in New York.

He assures all Nigerians that ongoing efforts to significantly enhance the security of lives and property in the country will continue apace and that under his leadership, Nigerians, irrespective of their status, will no longer be left at the mercy of criminal elements.

President Buhari further said that his government is committed to national security and succor for the people who have been displaced by attacks of the Boko Haram Sect.

However, Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, while speaking with Vanguard on the issue stated that Nigerians needed not to worry as the deadline given by president Mohammadu Buhari to form his cabinet has not yet elapsed.

Buhari departed Nigeria yesterday, September 24, 2015, along with a 21-man delegation.

While stressing that the meeting referred to in media reports is commendable, the statement said it was not the only one or the most important of such meetings in New York that are paying attention to the problem of insecurity, migration and violent extremism in the Lake Chad area and the rest of the world.

President Buhari, it was learnt, ratified the list for transmission to the Senate shortly before his departure to the United States on Thursday.

“Anyone trying to create an impression of dereliction of duty, based on the Nigerian delegation’s absence at an unofficial meeting, is only being mischievous and uncharitable”, the statement added.
