President Carter has no signs of cancer
Keytruda is one of several potentially breakthrough cancer drugs being developed and tested by START, which is one of the leading Phase One cancer trial centers in the world, with offices in Spain, and China as well as in San Antonio, and plans to open a new facility in MI. The class broke into applause.

Former President Jimmy Carter told a large Sunday school class he was teaching that there are no signs of the cancer in his liver and brain months after his melanoma diagnosis, a family friend in attendance said.
Carter said he’ll still continue receiving doses of the drug, Keytruda, every three weeks. “It is certainly possible he could go on for a significant period of time without any new metastases”. “He’s in fantastic shape for 91 and I like happy endings and I’m very happy that he is going to be OK and be with us for a while”, Kurland said. I did reach out to Emory directly but they were not able to comment.
Cancer research is giving hope to people with other cancers, as well. This year Merck has already sold more than $352 million. The lesion on his liver was removed on 12 August. He said doctors found four spots of melanoma on his brain. He began a treatment regimen in August that involved a highly targeted form of radiation therapy and pembrolizumab, which has been shown to help some melanoma patients live months or even years longer than expected. So we never know that there’s no cancer anywhere. So in a situation like the President’s, we’re grateful for what we have today. Immunotherapy, however, typically prolongs the life of cancer patients by about 1.5 years on the average.
Turnham said six drugs have been approved since 2011.
Santiago has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in June 2014. “Dr. William Coley, pioneer of cancer immunotherapy, noticed that cancer patients who got infections after surgery had better outcomes compared to those that did not get sick”. And that was when drugs were used in most advanced cases. “The first time I went for an MRI of my brain, the four places were still there but they were responding to the treatment”.
“There can be fever, diarrhea, malaise (and) appetite issues, but they are usually mild”.
Normally, the immune system can recognize things that shouldn’t be there, like a bacteria or virus, Shepard explained.
While most immune therapy drugs boost the immune system so that it can battle the cancer, Keytruda was the first drug to take a different approach. But it’s possible that these immunotherapy drugs may keep those in check.
The drug is called Keytruda, known chemically as pembrolizumab.
She further added: “I never felt God was through using Jimmy Carter yet”.

While Carter’s clean bill of health is very good news, Shepard said it’s too early to call it “a cure”.
