ELLESBOROUGH, England-Tensions were running high ahead of planned talks between President Donald Trump and U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May, after the USA leader in an interview bashed the prime minister’s approach to Brexit and threatened that her plan would “kill” the chances of a trade deal.

“Well I am not pitting one against the other”, Trump said. “But when they make you feel unwelcome, why would I stay there?”
“So I think allowing millions and millions of people to come into Europe is very, very sad”, he said.

The president is being hosted by the United Kingdom government throughout his trip, which has been billed as an opportunity to boost trade links and strengthen co-operation on security, and will be welcomed to Scotland by Scottish Secretary David Mundell.
