President Muhammadu Buhari Arrives Benin For APC Rally

President Buhari also paid tributes to the late Benin monarch, Oba Erediuwa, “I have not seen any more forthright traditional ruler”, he said.

“I am grateful for inviting me to come today to identify with you”.

He said that the Gov. Adams Oshiomhole-led APC government in Edo had recorded remarkable progress in the state in the last seven years and this should be sustained by voting in the APC candidate.

Nineteen candidates are contesting the September 10, 2016 governorship poll in the state, but from all indications, only five are actively involved in the campaigns.

“He will bring his financial expertise to turn Edo State around for the better”.

He said that Edo, with its vantage position, as well as its human and natural resources, had the potential to be greater.

‎President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that Nigeria will soon overcome its present economic challenges, assuring that Nigeria will be great again.

According to him: “Governor Oshiomhole has laid the right foundation for progressive governance”.

Based on this, the APC would depend on what it achieved during its eight-year government in the state, while the PDP would hope on promises.

“Edo can be like Lagos State, it has all the potential to be great, and we need Godwin Obaseki to make it greater”, he said.

The President was expected to visit the Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom, Eheneden Erediauwao, before attending the mega rally.

A statement signed by APC’s National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, said APC is the ruling government and would not be derailed by unsubstantiated comments by the opposition.

Meanwhile, the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, the venue of the rally is wearing a new look ahead of the event.

Those in attendance at the rally include: President Buhari, governors of APC, members of the Federal Executive Council, political bigwigs in the APC across the federation, market men and women, artisans, youths, amongst others.

Soldiers and other security operatives were reportedly seen at major roads leading in and out of the stadium.

“But the President gracing the final rally will no doubt further enhances the chances of the party at the poll, ” he said.
