President Mukherjee’s wife Suvra Mukherjee passes away August 18, 12:44 pm
President Pranab Mukherjee’s wife Suvra Mukherjee has passed away on Tuesday morning.

She passed away on Tuesday morning at the army Hospital in New Delhi where she was admitted in ICU on August 7 that forced the President to cancel his Odisha tour and rush to the capital. “She (died) at 10.51 a.m.”, said a statement.
Suvra had already had a previous history of heart ailments and was taken to the hospital after she had complained of a respiratory problem.
She is survived by her husband, the President of India and three children – Abhijit Mukherjee, Indrajit Mukherjee and Sharmistha Mukherjee. The ancestral home of India’s first lady is in Bangladesh’s Narhail district.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condoled the death of Mukherjee’s wife.
Mukherjee got married to Suvra on July 13,1957.
A graduate, Suvra Mukherjee was an ardent fan of poet Rabindranath Tagore.
“Saddened to hear Suvra boudi is no more”.
She was the Vocalist of Rabindra Sangeet and founder of the Geetanjali Troupe.
Suvra gave her support to Pranab in all his political activities. The first lady was also a highly talented painter who had many group and solo exhibitions to her credit.
“Her condition is very critical”.
Mrs Mukherjee had also authored two books. “She was simple, lovable and a caring housewife”, Trinamool Congress Chief said.
