President Obama And Donald Trump Have Cordial Meeting At White House

President Barack Obama, one of the controversial magnate’s most withering critics during the election campaign, said his priority was to “facilitate a transition that ensures our president-elect is successful”.

Michelle also discussed the experience of raising kids at the White House with Melania.

“When I came in on the subway this morning there were a lot of people crying”. The Republican said he looked forward “to dealing with the president in the future, including counsel”.

“The meeting might have been at least a little less awkward than some might have expected”, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters. Obama and Trump met privately without any staff in the room.

Sir John Sawers, who ran MI6 between 2009 and 2014, said the United States president-elect’s “fierce” reactions when he perceives he has been insulted could have risky consequences unless he keeps a cooler head.

To put it most succinctly, if you want to look only at the popular vote totals, the anti-Clinton vote outnumbered the anti-Trump vote. Obama said he was “encouraged” by the wide-ranging conversation the pair had, adding that it’s important “we call come together” to face the challenges America faces.

“The First Lady hosted Trump at the private residence of the White House for some tea and a tour of the private residence”.

Trump’s meeting with Obama spanned 90 minutes, longer than originally scheduled.

We can’t let this happen.

Furthermore, when the Federal Bureau of Investigation chose to drop the charge against Clinton in the email scandal on Nov 6, some people protested on Twitter, with one even launching a hashtag: “Hillary for Prision”. “Don’t answer questions when they just start yelling”, Obama told Trump, referring to the press.

Often contradicting himself during the campaign, Trump made it hard to know for sure what policies he would pursue.

That’s why Trump’s remarks appealed to them: He called for trade protectionism and promised to curb immigration into the US. “We’re going to fix health care and make it affordable and better”.

At the White House, despite their magnanimity and pledges of cooperation, there were small signs of the simmering tension between Trump and Obama.

Thursday was a significant day in recent history, as the Obama family welcomed the Trumps into the White House.

Obama had campaigned vigorously for Trump’s Democratic rival, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, while calling the businessman both temperamentally unfit for the presidency and dangerously unprepared to have access to U.S. nuclear codes.

Republicans did not take to the streets protesting Bill Clinton’s poor showing of only 43 percent of the popular vote.

These two men – who met Thursday for the first time – couldn’t be more different: Obama is tolerant; Trump is often intolerable.

A source said the personnel process was still in its early stages but Mr Trump’s team was putting a premium on quickly filling key national security posts.

Since the extraordinary election Obama has said he is “heartened” by Trump’s vow to “heal” divisions, while Trump has said he has “great respect” for the President.

On the Syrian conflict, however, Mr Trump indicated a possible sharp shift away from Obama administration policy.

“We will get along with all other nations, willing to get along with us”.

Melania Trump visited the White House along with her husband President elect Donald Trump. He was taking the baton; he’s handing it off. “I think you heard his own words last night to the extent that one man can as president and Vice President [Mike] Pence, who is phenomenal, they’re looking to unify the country. We should have a revolution in this country!”

Donald Trump performed his first flip-flop as United States president-elect when he back-tracked on criticism of protesters demonstrating against his election victory outside Trump Tower in NY and other USA cities. In fact, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported that hate groups in the USA have increased since Obama was elected president and Trump, who fostered an atmosphere of racial hatred, was endorsed by the KKK.

These street protests against Trump’s victory are not simply emotional outbursts by spoiled children.
