President Obama Might Make His Pick for a Successor Soon

According to projections by CNN and the Associated Press, Hillary Clinton will win Sunday’s Democratic primary in Puerto Rico, leaving her less than 30 pledged delegates and superdelegates away from the 2,383 she needs to clinch the nomination.

Voting began hours after U.S. networks’ tallies showed Hillary Clinton securing enough delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination and become the first female standard-bearer of a major USA political party. “I will have a substantial lead in pledged delegates”.

Abramowitz predicts Sanders, an independent USA zenator from Vermont, will win Montana because it’s “a state with a large share of independents”, while Clinton will have a “fairly comfortable win” in New Jersey, “a state with a much smaller share of independents and a substantial African-American electorate”.

Clinton and her rival, Vermont Sen. Senator Bernie Sanders has won 20 states, while Clinton has won 24 states.

“I know we have never done this before”, Clinton said on Saturday in Fresno. “I’m taking action as a result of the economic crisis”. But note that Trump’s numbers have been falling for two or three weeks.

She said that should she become the nominee, she’ll be “reaching out” to Sanders and would do what she could to bring the party together.

“We’re going to keep fighting until the last vote is counted”, said Kristen Elliott, a supporter from San Francisco who attended the rally. “It won’t represent the interest of our people”.

Her campaign manager, Robby Mook, said the media call on Clinton was an “important milestone”.

Almost 2.9 million people are registered to vote.

“If the turnout is high, we will win”, Bernie predicted.

There are four delegates remaining in Puerto Rico, but they can not be allocated until the vote count there is finished. “It’s an honor to be a part of this because no matter what, he’s changed the course of the future”, said Fisher. He supports Puerto Rico’s current political status as a commonwealth and urged voters to participate in the primary.

“I think the Sanders campaign would agree that the president has worked hard and gone to great lengths to be fair”, said Earnest. “But given the threat that comes from the North and the powerful allies it has here, not taking advantage of this “sham” to make our voice heard could be a precious wasted opportunity”.

Clinton now has 1812 pledged delegates and 572 superdelegates, by NBC News’s count, while Sanders has 1520 pledged delegates and 46 superdelegates.

Those feelings may be fueling Sanders supporters’ current unwillingness to commit to Clinton.

“This page has endorsed Clinton not because she is more likely to win the nomination but because she is vastly better prepared than Sanders for the presidency”, the editorial board said. When including superdelegates, her lead over Sanders is substantial – 2,323 to 1,547. She also has the support of 571 superdelegates, according to the AP survey of all 714 superdelegates repeatedly in the past seven months, and only 95 remain publicly uncommitted.
