President Obama on Brexit: US and UK ‘Special Relationship’ Won’t Change
Upon receiving the news that British voters in the “Leave” camp had obtained almost 52 percent of ballots in a referendum and therefore would pull the country out of the bloc, previously as European Economic Union, after 43 years of membership, the USA president said he would talk with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker said Saturday that the British had voted to leave, and “it doesn’t make any sense to wait until October to try and negotiate the terms of their departure”.
After Mr Cameron’s speech, Boris Johnson, the leading contender to replace him, paid tribute to the Prime Minister’s record, saying: “I have known David Cameron for a very long time, and I believe he has been one of the most extraordinary politicians of our age”.
‘Leave’ EU supporters wave Union flags and cheer as the results come in at the Leave.EU referendum party at Millbank Tower in central London early in the morning of June 24, 2016.
For example, imagine a British couple who moved to Paris several years ago carrying EU-issued passports.
Turnout was high, at 72 percent – the highest in a national poll in more than two decades – despite torrential rainstorms on referendum day, reflecting the strong feelings that the debate evoked in a nation whose immigration rate has doubled in the past 16 years.
Around 3 million people from other European Union countries live in the United Kingdom, and around 1.2 million Britons live elsewhere in the EU. He said the election predictions would be “a victory for real people, a victory for ordinary people, a victory for decent people”. The process could only be suspended or reversed if all 28 member nations were to agree to do so, the briefing paper says.
Downing Street have declined to comment. “A lot of people were caught out, and many investors will lose a lot of money”, he told Bloomberg News.
The current design of the union’s flag dates back to 1955, when it was first used by the Council of Europe, but it wasn’t adopted by the European Economic Community until 1985.
On Friday, Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said the bank is prepared for the shock, and said it is making available almost $345 billion in financial support.
Commenting on the result of the Brexit referendum, the envoy said it will have a “huge impact” on UK’s relationship with Europe in the future.
Despite all of this, it appears many British citizens simply did not realize the consequences of what they had voted for at the time.
“The EU has just gone into every nook and cranny”.
