President Obama is then set to depart from Moffett Field on Thursday afternoon for Southern California, where he is set to tape an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and attend DNC events.

Obama sounded a similar theme at a fundraiser Thursday night in Los Angeles.

“The amount of stuff that’s just put out there on the Internet, or sometime on news broadcasts, that are just factually inaccurate is surprising and it’s hard to catch up”, he said.

Obama will spend the next 4 1/2 days at the Sunnylands retreat in Rancho Mirage, for three day of leisure activities and a two-day summit with Southeast Asian leaders, starting Monday. So with the help of DeGeneres, he recorded a virtual valentine in an area of the stage that featured a red velvet backdrop and rose petals strewn across the floor.

Obama’s fundraising efforts are aimed at the general election, where he is intent on defeating Republicans who have promised to erase his legacy, said Susan MacManus, who teaches political science at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

The president “ObamaCares” about his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, and he wants the world to know. “I am going to make you some zucchini bread”, he said.

She then deadpanned, “I’m not really gay”. “Malia is more than ready to leave, but I’m not ready for her to leave”.

“You get to meet a cross section of American people that probably no other job or process allows you to do”, he said.

President Obama is crediting talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres with changing “hearts and minds” about gays.

DeGeneres wondered what Obama, as a lame duck with just 11 months left in office, might do after leaving the Oval Office in January.

He told DeGeneres this time around that he doesn’t miss campaigning except for one part.

“It’s always good to get out of Washington, which can sometimes be a little depressing”, Obama said, though admitting his sadness over having to give up Air Force One as the end of his presidency approaches.
