Authorities in North Dakota are investigating possible charges against U.S. Green Party presidential candidate for allegedly damaging equipment during protests on Tuesday over construction of an oil pipeline in the state.

The Morton County Sheriff’s Department now says it intends to press charges against Stein – including trespassing.
The bulldozer now has the phrase “I approve this message” emblazoned in red across its blade.
By REGINA GARCIA CANO Associated Press A North Dakota judge issued a warrant Wednesday for the arrest of Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, who is accused of spray-painting construction.
After the development made headlines, Stein took to social media to defend herself.
Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirschmeier said charges are pending. “Chicago has been leading the fight in immigrant rights since more than a decade ago, when you brought hundreds of thousands of people out of the shadows and into streets to say that immigrant rights are people’s rights”.
“We’re peaceful. We’ve always been peaceful”, Hall said to the Herald. The pipeline would transport crude oil from the Bakken shale in North Dakota to IL, where it would continue to the Gulf Coast.
Stein was one of around 200 protesters Tuesday at the pipeline site, reported the Bismarck Tribune.
What followed the blatant desecration of sacred sites was a clash between largely Native American protesters and construction workers. For Stein, who probably hopes that there’s no such thing as bad publicity, that required vandalism and being arrested on misdemeanor criminal charges.
Members of the Cheyenne and Arapaho, Comanche and other tribes sent people, food and support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, which is leading the protest citing environmental and cultural concerns. She also is trailing Gary Johnson, a former New Mexico governor who is running as a Libertarian.
“We need gun laws that actually provide the protection that our communities need and these laws need to be at the national level”, Stein said. The Sioux argue that the pipeline will put the tribe’s water supply at risk and harm sacred and culturally important sites.

Kudos to Stein for putting her money where her mouth is and drawing attention to this most fucky of government fuckery.
