Presidential candidate Kasich begins day’s OH campaigning

Florida Senator Marco Rubio made a bid to try and block Donald Trump from winning the Republican presidential nomination, telling his supporters in OH to give their votes to John Kasich next Tuesday.

As Trump attempts to unify a fractured Republican Party before Tuesday’s slate of winner-take-all primary elections, the confrontations between his legion of loyal supporters and protesters who accuse him of stoking racial hatred have become increasingly contentious, underscoring concerns about the divisive nature of his candidacy.

Alex Conant, Rubio’s communications director, admitted on CNN Friday that the best way to stop the real estate mogul in the Buckeye State would be to vote for the state’s governor, John Kasich, while Rubio is best positioned to stop Trump in the Sunshine State.

Rubio stood by his own campaign at the same event, repeating Conant’s argument that Rubio is best positioned to win Florida.

However, he has put all at stake in his home state of Florida where the primary is scheduled for March 15.

“This is the guy who was sure that I was born in Kenya, who just won’t let it go, and all this same Republican establishment, they we’re saying nothing”, Obama said.

To win the party’s presidential nominee, the candidates need to have the support of 1,237 delegates out of a total of 2,472 delegates.

Earlier this month, Rubio won the GOP caucuses in Minnesota and the party’s primary in Puerto Rico.

In an interview with The New York Times that was published on Saturday, Rubio likened Trump to a third-world dictator.

The prospects aren’t quite so rosy for Rubio in Florida, the state he has represented in the Senate for five years.

Trump leads the overall race for delegates with 460.

Fueled in part by anxiety over Donald Trump, District of Columbia Republicans flocked to a downtown hotel on Saturday to cast ballots in the city’s first-of-its-kind presidential convention.

Trump insisted he’d done nothing to exacerbate tension, despite having previously encouraged his supporters to aggressively – and sometimes physically – stop protesters from interrupting his raucous rallies.

The morning after the 12th Republican presidential debate, Trump said he had had enough. Back in 2012, Mitt Romney won 27 percent of the Hispanic vote, which led to big losses in places like New Mexico and Nevada. “But I have not discussed, other than I’m aware some people on their blogs have discussed these things, but there’s no effort to do that”, he said. For voters in Washington, if they managed to wait out the lines, their votes meant a lot more. Thousands of people have voted so far, and many say they’re eager to see anyone but Donald Trump win.
